Dive Day to Small Giftun & Erg Somaya – Eagle Rays, Turtles & More!

What a day! On July 18th, 2025, we had one of our most memorable diving adventures with Marine Yacht | SSI Dive Center, visiting two of Hurghada’s favorite dive sites – Small Giftun and the stunning Erg Somaya. We set off on a calm morning, sailing for about 1.5 hours to reach these fantastic Red Sea locations. The weather was perfect especially important for Erg Somaya, which is only dive able in calm sea conditions due to its open location and strong currents. Our first dive took place near Small Giftun, where the visibility was crystal clear and marine life was thriving. Then we moved on to Erg Somaya, and it did not disappoint. During our dives, we were lucky enough to spot:

• A majestic eagle ray gliding through the blue
• A powerful tuna fish cruising the reef
• A curious Napoleon wrasse patrolling the coral wall
• And the highlight a graceful sea turtle, calmly swimming by our group

The rich marine biodiversity and beautiful coral formations made it a perfect day for both beginner and experienced divers. With the guidance of our SSI-certified instructors, everyone felt safe, comfortable, and amazed by the underwater beauty of the Red Sea.
