Dive Log: Exploring Hurghada’s Red Sea Dive Sites with Marine Yacht

Dive Log – Exploring the Red Sea from Marine Yacht | SSI Dive Center Today was a fulfilling day of diving aboard the Marine Yacht with our team from the SSI Dive Center. We explored three classic dive sites in the Hurghada region of the Red Sea. While visibility was somewhat limited and a light current was present at all sites, the dives remained engaging, and our group stayed enthusiastic throughout. We’re also proud to celebrate a special milestone: Chiara Dalle successfully completed her Advanced Adventurer SSI certification today under the guidance of instructor Ahmed Badawy. Congratulations, Chiara — a big step forward in your diving journey!

Dive 1: Wreck El Mina We began the day with a dive at the historic El Mina wreck, just offshore from Hurghada. The visibility was reduced, giving the dive a mysterious, almost cinematic feel as the ship slowly appeared out of the haze during our descent. The wreck is home to an impressive variety of life — we observed schools of glassfish moving through its structure, along with several lionfish lurking in the shaded sections. This dive always offers a great combination of history and marine biodiversity. Dive 2: Turtle Bay Our second stop was Turtle Bay, located in the Hurghada area. Despite its name, no turtles were sighted on this dive. However, the site is well known for occasional sightings of eagle rays, which are often seen gliding through the blue. Although we didn’t spot any rays today, the conditions were calm, and we enjoyed drifting over sandy bottoms with scattered coral blocks. The area offered plenty to observe, including fusiliers, wrasses, and a well-camouflaged scorpionfish. Dive 3: El Fanous East We ended the day with an easy drift dive at El Fanous East. The site featured healthy coral formations and a mild current that carried us along the reef wall. Visibility remained moderate, but the colors of the reef still stood out. We saw bannerfish, anthias, and several blue-spotted stingrays resting on the sandy patches near the reef base. As always, El Fanous delivered a relaxing and scenic dive to close out the day. Though the conditions weren’t perfect, it was another safe and enjoyable day underwater with a motivated group of divers. These kinds of dives serve as a great reminder that every dive is a chance to learn, explore, and connect with the underwater world — no matter the visibility. Looking forward to the next adventure.
